I am a professional Grand Prix Rider/Advanced Event rider and trainer based at Bow Lake Equestrian near Eastleigh, Hampshire with my infamous whippet/Italian greyhound Tucker.

I don’t have an equestrian background. I started riding at a local riding school when I was 10 where I subsequently spent every hour possible. I knew quite clearly very early on that I wanted a career with horses and I helped at Bowlake for free rides whenever possible.

At eighteen, I moved to Ringwood to work for the late Adele Schardt who ran Somerley Park Horse Trials. It was here that I was given the opportunity to produce various horses through the grades over the five years I was there. I remain eternally thankful for this fantastic start.

In 2014, I moved back to Hampshire where it all began at Bowlake Equestrian. It was here that I set up on my own. I leased a number of boxes and began producing and competing event horses for clients up to Advanced level where we achieved multiple wins and placings up to CCI 2 star. Over time, I built up a trusted reputation for successfully training and producing young event horses. In 2016 I was approached by the Oppenheimer family at Headmore Stud who asked me to ride some of their young dressage horses. The timings of this coincided with my ownership of a young dressage horse, Southern Cross Braemar ‘Barry’. It was from this point on that my love for Dressage really took hold.

As a relatively unknown in the world of dressage I was lucky enough to develop my client base and my reputation for achieving results with the dressage horses I worked with and as a result over the years that followed I focused more and more on competing as a professional Dressage rider. I consider myself very fortunate and proud that over the past few years, with some lovely horses, I have achieved 19 Regional Championship titles, 9 National Championship wins, been Reserve Champion 5 times and have been placed, within the Top 5, 23 times at National level and in Sept 19 I completed my first grand Prix on my horse that I have produced from a five year old.

During 2019 I started competing at Premier Leagues with Knoxx’s Figaro and my own horse Barry. I have had a wonderful time with these two special horses having been placed in the top 5 at Small Tour on seven occasions and competed in my first International Competition representing GB at Small Tour.

2020 got off to a terrific start at Addington High Profile show in January. Here Dannie and Knoxx’s Figaro achieved a first and second placing at PSG and Inter 1 and then 5 qualifications for the Winter Championships where together they became the Inter1 National Champions.

My ambition is to continue doing what I love -

  • Training and coaching through one-to-ones and clinics to help my dressage and eventing clients improve their performance and achieve their personal goals.

  • To continue to work closely with my owners to set objectives and work towards them through exceptional care, training and competition.

  • To build on my results so far at Small Tour and compete internationally at the higher levels.

I would not be able to do this without the support of my fantastic owners and trainer Nicky Barrett.
